DALIL is a digital platform seeking to promote the use of locally-driven fact-checked online news among the public and policy-makers. Leveraging AI, DALIL automates and streamlines the fact-checking process, saving overburdened fact-checkers critical time in the fight against mis/disinformation. It serves as a one-stop-shop platform, with avenues for collaboration and resource sharing. It integrates a deceit detector for users at large to detect bias and propaganda in any questionable online content, thus moving beyond the traditional information gatekeepers and widening access to fact-checking tools. DALIL is one of the first fact-checking platforms supporting the Arabic language and its rich dialects that existing content moderation tools can seldom process. With EU funding and support, DALIL is currently rolled-out across 7 countries in the MENA region where fact-checking is nascent, isolated, manual, and lacking tools that support the Arabic language. As online misinformation and disinformation pose an increasingly significant threat to democratic societies in the digital era, DALIL demonstrates global relevance and scalability.
